Barnstable Municipal Airport Terminal Expansion Breaks Ground
The Horsley Witten Group, along with Jacobs Engineering, as owners project manager, and AECOM Architecture, completed the permitting and design of the $20 Million Barnstable Municipal Airport Terminal Improvement Project. HW led the permitting and civil/stormwater design, which includes Low Impact Design aspects such as bioretention facilities and grass swales to pretreat stormwater prior to entering the subsurface. Certificates of Compliance were recently received from the Cape Cod Commission as well as Building Permits from the Town of Barnstable allowing this successful and exciting project to break ground this summer.
Airport Manager Roland "Bud" Breault expressed, “This has been a very challenging project from the start. We could not have gotten this far without the technical support and guidance of our consultant team. We couldn’t be happier with the results.”
HW will continue to complete Construction Administration inspections as the Civil/Stormwater Engineer for the new Terminal and Access Road. A Groundbreaking ceremony for the Air Traffic Control Tower is scheduled for July 19, 2010. Please contact the Airport directly at 508-775-2020 for further details.
