MODULE-3 Susceptibility and Vulnerability

Drinking Water Supply Vulnerability

Vulnerability is a water source's potential for contamination from activities that may occur in the area from which the source draws its water. Two factors influence vulnerability:

  1. Physical susceptibility to contaminant infiltration, which was discussed in the previous section; and
  2. Contaminant exposure, which is the risk of contaminant exposure based on what contaminants, if any, were used in the water supply area. This can be complicated because inventorying all chemicals that have ever been used in an area is very difficult.
