“Climate change is a controversial subject, right? People will debate whether there is climate change.... I want to talk about the frequency of extreme weather situations, which is not political.  Anyone who says there is not a change in weather patterns is denying reality.”  Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York

On May 9 and 10, 2013 EPA Region 3 convened a 1.5-day conference in Laurel, Maryland on water sector impacts from extreme weather events and climate change. Topics included:

Flooded Road

During this conference government experts and scientists described potential extreme weather and climate change impacts in the mid-Atlantic and how to better prepare for them. In addition, utility representatives from the mid-Atlantic discussed actions that they have taken to mitigate and adapt to impacts from extreme weather and climate change and how they funded those actions.
