HW is leading a series of “GreenScaper” trainings sponsored by U.S. EPA, Region 1, and in partnership with the University of Connecticut, the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and Rutgers University Cooperative Extension. These hands-on training workshops are offered to small contractors and landscapers who work with the City’s Small and Minority Business Resource Office to demonstrate practical applications for designing and installing rain gardens and other aspects of “greener” landscaping.

HW staff developed presentations and provided supporting materials for a classroom training session and worked with Rutgers University Cooperative Extension staff to conduct a hands-on demonstration of a rain garden design and installation at the Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Training technicians included HW Landscape Architect and Engineer, Brian Kuchar, R.L.A., P.E., and Senior Engineer, Rich Claytor, P.E., each offering an extensive background in alternative stormwater systems design and installation.
