Eivy Monroy, Environmental Scientist and Engineer
Eivy joined HW as an Environmental Scientist/Engineer. She has a Master's degree in Environmental Science and Management, specializing in Watershed, Wetlands and Ecosystem Management from the University of Rhode Island, and a Bachelors degree in Environmental Engineering from La Salle University in Bogota, Colombia. She is proficient in GIS with four years of experience that includes work with the Rhode Island Environmental Data Center and the Ocean Special Area Management Plan project. Read More
Kathleen McAllister, Environmental Planner
Kathleen recently joined HW as an Environmental Planner. Kathleen has five years of professional experience that includes work in the energy services industry conducting residential and commercial energy efficiency/renewable energy program evaluations, cost-benefit analyses, and energy savings analyses. Improvements for the Barnstable Municipal Airport
The Barnstable Municipal Airport of Hyannis, Massachusetts is currently completing one of the largest and greenest airport renovations in the State, which includes the $40 million renovation of the 35,000-square-foot airport terminal, 85-foot air traffic control tower, new access road and parking facilities. South Sandwich Village - A Smart Growth Village on Cape Cod
South Sandwich Village, located between Route 130, Cotuit, and Quaker Meeting House Roads, is being designed to be the premier smart growth village center on Cape Cod. The design integrates over one million square feet of mixed use offices, retail and residential uses to create a pedestrian-oriented and bicycle-friendly village setting. South Sandwich Village is located in an Economic Center, as designated by the Cape Cod Commission, and is consistent with the intentions of the Town of Sandwich Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Read More
Healthy Places by Design, Rhode Island
HW is assisting two of the three Rhode Island pilot communities for the ground-breaking Healthy Places by Design project sponsored by the Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH). The City of Pawtucket, in partnership with the Pawtucket Citizens Development Corporation (PCDC), and the Town of North Kingstown, in partnership with the local YMCA, were selected by HEALTH in a competitive grant process to participate in the program. Climate-Ready Water Utilities, Morro Bay, CA National Estuaries Program (NEP) Collaborative Exercise
HW expects to support the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in this exciting new project to conduct a study on climate impacts to water resources in California’s Morro Bay watershed. Morro Bay is a small estuary of 2,300 acres fed by the Chorro and Los Osos Creeks and is protected from the Pacific Ocean by a lengthy sand spit. Read More
Implementing an Integrated Water Resources Management Plan for the Town of Brewster, MA
To assist with the implementation of the Town of Brewster’s Integrated Water Resources Management Plan (IWRMP), HW is creating a GIS database, developing a GIS training curriculum for Town staff, and providing a Town-wide buildout analysis. The GIS database will enable Town staff to create maps, analyze constraints to proposed projects, and update parcel and other information. Read More
Water and Wastewater Utility Workshop Tool for Extreme Water Event Planning
On behalf of the EPA, HW is developing a new web-based tool to help utilities plan for adaptation options as extreme weather events become more and more common. For example, extreme flooding is now occurring on a more frequent basis, creating challenges to infrastructure protection and water treatment. To mitigate the new “normal,” utilities need to change their long-term views regarding planning, design, and operations. Read More
Adaptive Re-Use of Saunders Public School, Lawrence, MA
HW assisted with the conversion of the Saunders Public School, a vacant public school building in Lawrence, into affordable housing. HW worked with the developer, EA Fish, and contractor, Dellbrook Construction, to determine the viability and cost of redeveloping this site. We also provided technical assistance to EA Fish, who assisted the City in securing the tax credit funding needed to finance this redevelopment project. Read More
