Low Impact Development (LID) Stormwater Retrofit in Peabody, Massachusetts
Based out of our Newburyport office, HW is working with the City of Peabody to design a set of stormwater retrofits in the vicinity of the intersection of Perkins Street and Allens Lane. The project is upgradient from downtown Peabody, an area with chronic flooding problems and part of a multi-faceted flood mitigation project.
HW Senior Environmental Planner and Director of our Newburyport office, Ellie Baker, led a team to develop a Conceptual Master Plan for a range of alternative stormwater management strategies. This Plan offers a variety of innovative and feasible stormwater measures that could be installed on publicly-owned park land and within the Perkins Street right-of-way.
Recommended solutions will help to better manage stormwater by diverting it off of paved surfaces, removing pollutants, and alleviating the roadway flood occurrences.
HW has recently completed construction plans and bidding documents and is assisting the City through the construction bid process and construction oversight. Construction is estimated to be complete prior to the end of August 2010.
