About the Master Plan Update
The Seekonk Master Plan Update will clearly articulate the vision and goals of the community and provide the Town with a roadmap for accomplishing these items. This Master Plan Update is a critical step towards establishing innovative and successful policies that will guide Seekonk to a sustainable future. The Town last updated its Master Plan in December of 2000. The Master Plan Update will seek to balance the community’s desire for appropriate growth management, protection of natural and cultural resources, community character, and sense of place within the context of property rights and sound fiscal management.
The Master Plan Update will be divided into three documents:
- A Baseline Report that includes the essential data and information shaping land use issues in Seekonk today.
- A Goals and Policy Initiatives Report outlining the framework for moving forward in the community.
- An Action Plan that lists all of the short and long term actions required to achieve the vision for Seekonk.
Each of the above Master Plan documents will touch on the following eight elements:
- Land Use
- Housing
- Economic Development
- Green Initiatives
- Natural Feature and Resources
- Public Facilities and Services
- Open Space and Recreation
- Transportation
