With increasing developmental pressure, the protection of rare plant and animal species habitat has become an increasing concern. Our field biologists are trained and experienced in field assessments for general and rare species habitat evaluations, following the guidelines and protocols provided by local, state, and federal agencies, such as the Natural Heritage of Endangered Species Program (NHESP). HW has assisted many of our clients through the Massachusetts Endangered Species Act (MESA) permitting process, including submittals of permit applications and performing rare-species habitat assessments. We are also experienced in identifying, monitoring, and certifying vernal pools.
