About the Comprehensive Community Plan Update

The South Kingstown Comprehensive Community Plan Update will clearly articulate the vision and goals of the community and provide the Town with a roadmap for accomplishing these items. This Comprehensive Plan Update is a critical step towards establishing innovative and successful policies and practices that will guide South Kingstown to a sustainable future. The Town last updated its Comprehensive Community Plan in May of 2005 and this Plan was approved by the State in June of 2005. The current five-year update is being prepared for completion in accordance with the Rhode Island Comprehensive Planning and Land Use Regulation Act. The Comprehensive Community Plan Update will seek to balance the community’s desire for appropriate growth management, protection of natural and cultural resources, community character, and sense of place within the context of property rights and sound fiscal management.
